The recall of Lay's Classic Potato Chips in Oregon and Washington was elevated to a Class I recall by the FDA on January 27, 2025. This is the highest risk classification for a recall, as it indicates that consuming the affected product could cause serious or life-threatening health problems.

The recall was initially issued in December 2024 due to undeclared milk in some bags of the chips. People with milk allergies or sensitivities could experience severe allergic reactions if they consume the affected chips.

The recalled chips are 13-ounce bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips with a "Guaranteed Fresh" date of February 11, 2025, and one of the following manufacturing codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx. They were sold in retail and e-commerce stores in Oregon and Washington as early as November 3, 2024.

If you have a milk allergy or sensitivity, do not consume the recalled chips. Discard them immediately or contact Frito-Lay for a refund.
